We are currently experiencing an incredible acceleration in demand for photovoltaics
This was the message that Gaëtan Masson, President of the Institut Becquerel, a strategic partner of CARBON from the outset, wanted to convey in an interview with TECSOL.
He emphasized the need to relaunch a European industrial sector, country by country:
“On a strategic level, I personally believe first in creating national industries. Mobilizing energies at the national level is easier, as is calling on the State to support a project within the framework of a recovery plan. In France, the Institut Becquerel is involved in the CARBON project, a large-scale project with a capacity of 5 GW on 50 to 60 hectares of plants, which France urgently needs.
On this project, we are seeking the government’s support at all levels. All French developers must also support this project. The field has become aware of the necessity of a strong local industry. Other projects should follow the example of CARBON in Europe. It will then be time to gather them and think about a Solar Airbus.
The main priority right now is to proceed quickly, country by country. We must absolutely produce a portion of what we consume. Peace works well in times of abundance. However, in times of rationing and geopolitical stress, war quickly becomes an option.”
CARBON’s ambition is to engage in decarbonizing the economy, participating in reindustrialization and restoring European energy sovereignty.
