What market conditions for the European photovoltaic sector?

On Thursday, November 7, CARBON participated in a roundtable discussion during the event “Photovoltaic Industry in France and Europe: New Momentum, New Horizons,” organized by ADEME and InnoEnergy.

Étienne Roche, Chief of Staff to Pierre-Emmanuel Martin, represented CARBON in discussions addressing the question: “How can we create the right market conditions to support the European industrial photovoltaic module sector?”. Alongside influential figures such as Jan Jacob Boom-Wichers (CEO of HoloSolis), Chiara Landrò (Enel Group 3SUN), Jacek Truszczynski (European Commission), and Aurélie Picart (Strategic Industry Committee for New Energy Systems), CARBON shared its ambitious vision for the future of photovoltaics in Europe.

3 Priorities for the Reindustrialization of European Photovoltaics

👉 A paradigm shift:
It’s time to collectively (both public and private sectors) move away from economic and commercial naivety, especially given the current international context.

👉 A supportive and transparent regulatory framework:
Rapid implementation of a clear regulatory framework is key—one where the term “European local content” is not a taboo. The Net-Zero Industry Act (NZIA) is a necessary first step but is likely insufficient.

👉 Rebuilding European industrial ecosystems:
Restoring European supply chains for raw materials, components, and equipment is critical. This deep reindustrialization effort ensures both sovereignty and competitiveness—two priorities central to CARBON’s mission.
