Carbon’s Executive Team is strengthening !
A month after announcing the appointment of Nicolas Chandellier as CEO, we are pleased to announce the strengthening of the executive team with the arrival of three new profiles over the past month: Laurent Vergely as Director of Industrial Operations, Sylvain Jonot as Finance Director, and Wouter Ooghe as Director of Project – Process and Industrial Equipment. With these three high-level, strategic, and complementary recruitments, CARBON continues to bolster its executive team to structure the company, maintain the pace of its industrial projects, and strengthen its execution capabilities.
Laurent VERGELY, New Director of Industrial Operation
The arrival of Laurent Vergely as the Director of Industrial Operations is a valuable asset for CARBON. Having been a factory director for over 20 years, first at PSA Peugeot Citroën and then AIRBUS Helicopters, Laurent Vergely has developed an undeniable expertise in the management of large industrial sites, operational performance, and driving transformations. After earning a PhD in Automation/Robotics in 1989, Laurent Vergely joined the Strategic Information Management of the PSA group. He progressed within the group, gradually taking charge of Business Units, and eventually became the Factory Director at Aulnay-sous-Bois in 2009, overseeing 3600 employees. In 2013, he launched the first industrial hub in Lorraine, including 2 mechanical factories and 6000 employees. Four years later, he joined AIRBUS Helicopters as the Industrial Director of the Marignane site, where he led 4 Business Units and supervised 12,000 people over 80 hectares.
Sylvain JONOT, New Finance Director
With his solid industrial experience and financial expertise, Sylvain Jonot will play an essential role in the development of CARBON. A graduate of the Burgundy School of Business, Sylvain Jonot has held various strategic positions during his 18 years at automotive supplier Valeo. In 2014, he became the Finance Director for the group’s clutch systems products division. He then oversaw 20 sites, 10,000 employees, and generated a turnover of 2 billion euros. Starting in 2017, he expanded his responsibilities by taking over the general management of production sites, first in Spain (400 employees) and then in France (700 employees).
Wouter OOGHE, New Director of Project – Process and Industrial Equipment
Wouter Ooghe will bring his in-depth expertise in the photovoltaic manufacturing value chain, particularly in processes, equipment, and maintenance. With a master’s degree in engineering from the University of Ghent in Belgium, Wouter Ooghe has over 20 years of experience in the semiconductor industry at companies like Alcatel and AMI. He notably held the position of factory director at ON Semiconductor in Malaysia. In 2017, he decided to join the solar energy sector, becoming the general manager of SunPower – Maxeon in Malaysia. In this role, he oversaw two photovoltaic cell production plants and one solar module plant, increasing their production capacity to 1.8 GW.”
